Family Tree in Santa Luz Golf Club

Monday, March 14th, 2016 6:02 pm | by vviannay

Why not change the rules a little, instead of the usual family tree branches connecting each name and picture do something a little different? I was commissioned to painted a informal tree for a wall of family photos. It will be very subtle in the background of the photos but it still stand its ground. I used glazes to give the tree a translucent feel with a little shimmer in contrast to the flat surface of the paint finish.

Most materials are wool and cotton jerseys knits and some are USA materials.
The colors are usually on the olive greens, rusts, blue jeans or black and grays.
All hand made in my studio in California.
the patchwork scarf are $ 65 each and the seaweed scarf are $75 each.

Japanese style mural on a kitchen ceiling. I painted the background in metallic charcoal and dark grey warm silver lines, to evoke a cloudy sky and the cranes are guided in gold. The whole apartment was modern japanese style and it makes sense with the ultra modern kitchen. This project was with Milnamnow & York Interior Design.

Fine Art Commission

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015 7:53 pm | by vviannay

This year has been explosive for art, I am on my 6th fine art commission. Currently I am working on a painting for a Best Western, Seven Seas Hotel for their lobby. It’s going to be huge, 8 x 4 feet. I am to inspire visitors and evoke glorious San Diego.

I just finished two paintings for a hot rapper in Hollywood, I cannot reveal who he is but maybe the painting will give you a clue.
The inspiration with these pieces was smoke, but I did not want to just paint realistic smoke, it could have come out cheesy and frankly boring. I added some depth and interested to the simple dark background using my bubble wrap technique. I was given instructions on the colors to work in the room too and this what I came up with.

Broom Paintings

Monday, August 31st, 2015 6:04 pm | by vviannay

Sometime you have to go for it, you have an idea in your head, 100 percent of the time, it never comes out the way you think it will . Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, but over all I go for it or I will never know and I will loose momentum. No matter what, I will learn something new. I’m going bold, painting wide strokes. It looks like the painting strokes were painted fast. In fact it took a few tries and I realized the slow movement had the best effect. It was a controlled and slow dance with a brush, then a broom for the bold effect. It’s funny how something so simple in the end can be so complex…It’s usually the way when you choose the narrow door.

Contemporary painting for a home by a golf course

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 2:42 am | by vviannay

This project was for a very modern home by the La Costa Golf Course in North County. We needed something large, 6 x 6 feet. The painting was for the entrance, so we wanted to make a splash, inviting and somehow represent the golf course but not make too obvious. You never know how the painting is going not end up, it’s a complete mystery to me. I usually paint all over the canvas to break away the stage fright and then will start once there is color every where!
Debbie Rodriguez the designer gave me colors to work from so it works well with the room tones and we work together during the process.

Mini VV, the new fanny pack, SMALL is IN!

Thursday, March 26th, 2015 3:24 pm | by vviannay

The Mini VV was a design collaboration with Valerie Ferrari owner of Le Bel Age and Chateau Le Bel Age in Mission Hills.
It holds your keys, cards and mobile phone. It’s a small and practical holder, no more panic ‘where are my keys, where is my phone?’. Its perfect if you are wearing a dress with no pockets, going for a jog or a quick run to the super market, great for trade fairs. I sometimes wear mine around the house or when I am working in my work shop where i move around a lot from one desk to the other. The phone pockets is wide enough for the galaxy, the iPhone 6. The key holder claps is of the highest quality and can hold at least 10 keys.

These babies are handmade with USA Denim or USA organic cotton and USA Leather.
It comes with a long or short leather strap depending if you want it across the body or around your neck.

It’s the new fanny pack but elegant, small is in!
